Project Description:

The Environmental Sciences Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory invites applicants for a Post-Doctoral Research Associate in Surface Hydrology to support its long-term study on energy-water availability, climate change impact on hydropower generation, streamflow variability, and competing water usage. The position will be in the Energy-Water Ecosystem Engineering Group of the Environmental Sciences Division. The candidate will participate in several Department of Energy funded research projects and interact with interdisciplinary researchers in hydroelectricity, climatology, aquatic biology, informatics, and environmental economics.

Qualifications:

Candidate must hold a Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering (or related disciplines) with emphasis on surface hydrology. A successful candidate should: a) be experienced in macroscale hydrologic models (e.g., VIC), b) be familiar with GIS software and data resources, c) have strong scripting and programming skills (e.g., MATLAB, python, c#), d) have experience in analyzing climate simulation or meteorological reanalysis datasets, and e) have strong writing and communicating skills. The initial one-year appointment can be renewed based on satisfactory performance.
