2012 Ocean Sciences Meeting
20-24 February 2012
Salt Lake City, Utah USA

This joint meeting is an international gathering of more than 4,000 attendees and is being sponsored by The Oceanography Society, the American Society of Limnology and Oceanography and the American Geophysical Union.

Call for Session Proposals

The scientific planning committee invites proposals for sessions of interest to members of AGU, ASLO, and TOS. The Ocean Sciences Meeting is an important venue for scientific exchange across broad marine science disciplines, including physical, biological, chemical and geological oceanography, and multidisciplinary topics. We also welcome proposals that reflect new and emerging research on the global ocean and society, including science education, outreach and public policy.

Proposals for sessions are due 16 May 2011.

– Proposals should identify at least two co-chairs and include an informative session title and short description of the session.
– Sessions may be proposed to consist of poster presentations, oral presentations or a combination of both; the final mix of posters and oral presentations will be determined by the scientific planning committee after abstract submission closes.
– We strongly encourage proposals for poster-only sessions, due to the fact that the number of time slots will be limited and our desire to facilitate one-on-one interactions. Posters will be displayed in specific session groupings for the entire meeting to maximize opportunities for viewing. Specific times for interactions with the presenters will be assigned at times not in conflict with oral presentations.

Guidelines for Submission

Each session requires at least two (maximum of four) co-chairs who plan to attend the meeting. Co-chairs must be a member of AGU, ASLO, or TOS. Session titles should be between 45-180 characters. Session descriptions should be limited to 200 words and be broad enough to include submissions of abstracts by interested researchers, regardless of affiliation or funding sources.

Session proposals must be submitted by 23:59 U.S. Central Time, 16 May 2011. Acceptance of sessions will be determined in June 2011 with abstract submissions opening in summer 2011 and closing 7 October 2011. An abstract fee and registration including payment will be required at the time of abstract submission and will be refundable up to 30 days prior to the meeting.
