Job Description
Science Systems and Applications, Inc. (SSAI), a woman-owned business providing scientific, engineering and IT support services, has immediate openings for an instrument specialist and sensor analyst. Candidates will provide infrastructure, planning, calibration and data analysis support to the Ozone Mapping and Profiler Suite Science Operations Center (OMPS SOC). The OMPS SOC is tasked with providing operational support and maintaining the calibration of the OMPS nadir sensors.

The Sensor Analyst will analyze OMPS flight data and ground test data, and evaluate it for sensor characteristics; translate these characteristics into pre-defined sensor tables, updating as needed; develop new correction algorithms and modify existing ones in support of ground processing of sensor data; identify sensor anomalies and work to resolve them via operational recommendations and/or ground software solutions; document all resulting code and test results.

The Instrument Specialist will help to plan and implement Nadir sensor operations to achieve the objectives of the OMPS SDR team; create and manage sensor tables; develop processes and software to verify the contents of sensor tables; deliver tables to mission operations and track their progress; develop tools to monitor sensor telemetry and other key parameters; track sensor changes including in response to modified tables; maintain the history of sensor configurations and of spacecraft-wide events; identify sensor anomalies and work to resolve them via operational recommendations and/or ground software solutions; document all resulting code and test results. The successful candidate will additionally write software to support instrument performance analysis, data display, and data comparisons.
