Position as Assistant Professor of Geosciences at University of Wisconsin-Parkside

The Geosciences Department at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor in soft rock geology, to begin August 2013. Preference will be given to those with demonstrated commitment and experience in teaching; experience in soils, geomorphology, and glacial geology with environmental concentration. The department offers B.S. degrees in Geosciences. This is an academic year position (9 months).

Qualifications:

Required: Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Geology or related fields.

Preferences:

Preference will be given to those with demonstrated commitment and experience in teaching;
Experience in soils, geomorphology, and glacial geology with environmental concentration.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will teach lecture and laboratory courses including both introductory level courses in Geosciences (e.g. Historical Geology and Rocks and Minerals) and upper level courses in soft rock geology or environmental applications with field studies. In addition to teaching, the successful candidate will concurrently conduct research and scholarly activities related to his/her specialty, actively seeking internal and external fund support, and engaging in scientific publications at the local, regional, and national levels. Furthermore, the successful candidate will be participating in departmental and university-wide services. Working with diverse populations and non-traditional students is essential for this position.

Salary:
