Responsibilities:

  • Teach geoscience courses in GPS, spatial thinking, GIS, and remote sensing.
  • Leadership in the development of a geospatial center, including working with the Center for Geospatial Studies Steering Committee and business and community partners.
  • Scholarly or create achievement or research in GIS.
  • Maintenance of professional development.
  • Service to the University and Community

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Geography with a Physical Geography and Geospatial focus.
  • Ability to effectively teach courses in: GPS, spatial thinking, introductory and advanced GIS, and remote sensing.
  • At least two (2) years teaching experience at the University level, both face-to-face and online.
  • Demonstrated commitment to interdisciplinary scholarship and collaboration.
  • Ability to work successfully with students of diverse backgrounds including sensitivity to their needs and concerns.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills and experience necessary for developing an emerging geospatial center.
  • Record of scholarly research using GIS.
  • Minimum of 3-5 peer reviewed publications.
  • Record of successful collaboration with business and community partners on geospatial projects.
